So the dingbats at Goofball Staffing, Inc. [not its real name] are bothering me, yet again, for yet another piece of paperwork that I already provided more than a week ago. What an utterly incompetent outfit. It's hard to be too angry with them because they're all nice people on the phone (there are three that I deal with - they may be the whole firm) but they are terminally inept. They booked me for a phone interview but neglected to specify whether I was to wait for a call, or call the other party myself. (When I asked the lady at GSI if she could please clarify which it was, she said she'd get back to me but never did.) I learned after the fact that I was supposed to call the hiring manager - but I couldn't, since GSI had neglected to give me her number.

Anyway, I got the job, and I've been there a week now and it seems to be going well. The work situation itself is fine, and the perpetual SNAFU with the staffing agency is just a sideshow. I spend the day sitting at a computer with a document scanner, converting decades' worth of real estate transactions from paper to digital files. The pay is only so-so but I'm getting some really good hands-on experience that'll be useful in the future.
