DC visit, continued ...

So, yes, I actually made it into the Capital this morning, very briefly, and got a look at the White House. I rode the Metro Blue line into town from the Braddock stop to Foggy Bottom (at GWU), and started walking aimlessly. I noticed a Whole Foods nearby so I stopped in for some quick refreshment (and to satisfy my inner hipster), and found my way to K Street. Not long after that, I found my way to the gates of the White House and snapped the obligatory pictures.

It wasn't much of a tour, as the weather was hot and humid, I was tired from having slept poorly last night, and the weather forecasts were predicting rain and thunderstorms for this afternoon. But at least I've got the drill down as far as navigation goes, so tomorrow morning I'm gonna head out and do all the touristy stuff.

I want to see more of Alexandria too. Mohammed gave me a quick walking tour after dinner last night (Omar had to head home early) and urged me to visit Mount Vernon. He pointed out the George Washington Memorial Parkway.

It's late afternoon; I've rested, cleaned up, and gotten a bite to eat, and the threatened storms don't seem to have materialized. So I may head out for a bit of sightseeing this evening, too.
