DC Trip Impressions

Bigger than expected: Lincoln Memorial. It is huge. People say you can't get any feel for the size of the thing from photographs, and they're right. It has to be experienced.

Smaller than expected: Reagan Airport. Really, that's it?!?

One mall that's not air-conditioned: The National Mall. It's almost two miles long, and on a hot, muggy day it seems like twenty.

Stuff I didn't know: The Washington Monument was the tallest structure in the world at the time it was completed in 1885, and remains the world's tallest stone structure to this day.

My visit was very short and my primary purpose was to meet up with some friends, so I didn't get a lot of time to do touristy stuff. But I'm already mentally planning my next visit.
