My flight arrived at EBL on time and a friend, R., met me at the airport. We almost missed each other because I didn't realize EBL has a reception area separate from the main terminal. R explained that that's because in Kurdish culture, when somebody arrives on a flight, their whole family turn out to meet them at the airport, which could be a dozen people or more - so if there's 100 people arriving on a flight, you've got over a thousand people meeting them!

I've just gotten checked in at the hotel, now I'm going to grab a shower and meet up with R. for a whirlwind tour of the city. More soon.
