Thursday morning.

The new place is a done deal! It's a two-bed, two-bath, 1000-sqft place, about the same size as where I'm living now (1100 sqft) but about 400$ cheaper. Plus I'll have my own parking space, and access to the pool and fitness center.

Move-in date is June 14, but I'll pay my rent here at my old place thru the end of June so I'll have a two-week window to get the move done and hopefully it won't be a big charlie foxtrot.

This will be the first and only time in my life I've intentionally moved to a Jewish neighborhood. Part of me rebels at the thought of having a bunch of orthodox religious people breathing down my neck (which is one of the reasons I'll never live in, say, Brooklyn or Jerusalem), but this is Portland so it's not like they'll be all over the place; and I do want to connect with the community more.

The main thing is it's a nice, livable apartment complex with big common spaces and lots of people. It looks family-oriented, which means kids for Bunny to play with when she visits. More people means more opportunities for me to make friends, which I'm realizing is something I need, and who knows, potentially dating opportunities too. And I have some friends already living in the neighborhood.

Plus, books.
