Jewish West Africa: 'Forward' Covers Remy Ilona and Nigeria's Igbo Jews

A few months ago, I had the opportunity to visit the African Jewish communities of Uganda and Kenya. But there's a Jewish renaissance on the other side of the continent as well, in the Igbo territory of Nigeria.

Last January, Forward's Sam Kastenbaum wrote about 'Nigeria's Lost Jewish Tribe' and it's well worth a read. I haven't yet been able to make it to West Africa, but I hope to be able to go one day. Remy Ilona, who is profiled in the article, is the author of a book on Jewish identity among the Igbo people.
