I've gotten involved in some groups via Meetup and it's been fun meeting new people. Attending a conservative group meeting in Portland is always a bit of a gamble because you never know when antifa are going to show up and cause a ruckus and threaten to burn the place down. But I managed to make it to two separate conservative meetups over the past couple of weeks, plus the Jordan Peterson group, and I'm pleased to report that all of those went peacefully and productively. And there's a Spanish conversation group that I want to get more involved with, because I really want to practice my Spanish.
Had a very good job interview first thing this morning with a technology company in Hillsboro, just a 10-minute drive from my home. Also a phone interview that went very well. So, nothing definite yet but I'm optimistic about finding good work soon.
Lodge meeting tonight. I'm making a commitment to get to Lodge every month and Chabad every week. I've come to understand that regular, formalized social activity with others - even something as simple and seemingly routine as reciting prayers or doing rituals - can play an important role in keeping us balanced.
And in light of that, one more commitment I'm making: to get on LJ more regularly.
