The Falcons have landed.

So, it hasn't been a great week for space exploration, but here's something to boost your spirits. SpaceX lands three Falcon Heavy rocket boosters (propelled by RP1 and LOX) successfully.

Sending a rocket up is one thing; bringing it down is another. I grew up in the Apollo era, when it was the norm for rocket boosters to be dumped into the ocean after they'd served their purpose. It is so amazing to see these mighty machines return safely to Earth, ready to fly again.

Bringing a rocket down is the hard part, as SpaceIL learned the hard way. Of course, Wernher von Braun (l'havdil!!!) didn't care.
