The journey from Egypt to Sinai is the story of man's search for meaning.

Between Passover (commemorating the Exodus from slavery in Egypt) and Shavu'ot (commemorating the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai), we are obligated to count the Omer, reminding us that freedom is incomplete unless we have meaning and purpose in our lives - a sense of our place in the scheme of Creation.
